More Than Twenty Years of Commitment to Education in the DRC
For more than twenty years, Fondation Rawji has worked to make education a genuine driver of development in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Through the payment of school fees, the Prix d’Excellence, scholarships, and the construction and rehabilitation of educational facilities, the Foundation supports young Congolese people at different stages of their educational journeys.
A New Strategic Plan to Support Congolese Youth
In 2026, the Foundation is opening a new chapter with the adoption of its 2026–2031 Strategic Plan. This roadmap marks an important evolution: moving beyond a traditional approach to education focused primarily on access to schooling and the financing of infrastructure, towards more comprehensive action across the entire education ecosystem.
The ambition is now to provide continuous support to Congolese youth, from their first years at school through vocational training and towards independence. This means helping families ensure continuity in their children’s education, providing suitable learning environments, strengthening teachers’ skills, supporting students experiencing difficulties, and developing training programmes aligned with the realities of the labour market.
From Access to School to Vocational Training
Building a classroom is essential, but its impact is even greater when it forms part of a complete educational pathway. A renovated school must also be able to rely on trained teachers, appropriate educational resources, catch-up programmes, and opportunities that enable young people to continue their studies or acquire vocational skills.
Four Priorities to Strengthen the Congolese Education Ecosystem
Fondation Rawji’s new Strategic Plan is therefore structured around four main priorities: improving the measurement of results, strengthening partnerships and collective action, aligning investments with the real needs of young people, and contributing sustainably to the development of the Congolese education system.
This evolution is also reflected in the diversification of the Foundation’s areas of intervention. In addition to school and university education, the Foundation aims to provide greater support for vocational training, digital and scientific skills, sports, creative programmes, and initiatives promoting the education and empowerment of girls and young women.
Building Sustainable Educational Pathways Towards Independence
The objective is to build coherent educational pathways capable of delivering lasting results. By connecting access to education, the quality of learning, skills development, and entry into employment, Fondation Rawji seeks to give every young person more opportunities to learn, progress, and contribute to the development of their country.
Through this new direction, the Foundation continues to pursue the same mission with renewed ambition: to create generations of educated and confident young Congolese people who are equipped to build their own futures.
