Our Story

Fondation Rawji was founded in Kinshasa in 2003 as a nondenominational, non-governmental organization to empower the Congolese people to become tomorrow’s pioneers through sustainable educational solutions. The Foundation’s mission is to prepare the Congolese youth to fulfill their potential and acquire leadership skills through education.

Fondation Rawji is built on the principle that investing in education is an investment in human capital while also contributing to economic development since education is a leading determinant of economic growth, employment, and earnings. While we are committed to helping individuals and institutions, we are focused on being part of the bigger picture and affecting change at a societal level.

As an extension of the Groupe Rawji, the foundation's roots trace back to the 1890s through the company's legacy of enabling economic prosperity in the DRC spanning across several sectors such as banking, finance, real estate, manufacturing, distribution, and many more.

Fondation Rawji is the only formalized family foundation operating in tandem alongside businesses, as a vehicle of impactful, sustainable, long-lasting corporate social responsibility.
